Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Crusades, but modern craps is approximately one hundred years old. Modern craps evolved from the 12th Century Anglo game called Hazard. No one knows for sure the beginnings of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s knights bet on Hazard through a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the fortification’s name.
Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when exiled by the English, the French relocated south and found safety in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair.
