Be cunning, play cunning, and become versed in craps the ideal way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Current craps come about from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for sure the origin of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s paladins bet on Hazard amid a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was derived from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French relocated south and discovered safety in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which was gotten from the name of the losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and all over the country. Most consider the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In 1907, Winn developed the current craps layout. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he developed the spots for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
